‘YEA bought bikes for GHS15K per unit under Mahama’

Ordinary bicycles were purchased by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the Mahama administration at a unit cost of GHS15,000, the agency’s current board chair Sammi Awuku has said.

“Per our investigations, we found out that some bicycles were purchased and each cost GHS15,000,” Mr Awuku told Francis Abban on Accra-based Starr FM on Tuesday, 31 October.

“These are normal bicycles…” he said to adduce credence to claims that the YEA was used as a vehicle for corruption in the Mahama administration.

Adducing further evidence, he said: “…In some cases, the YEA does not have data on its beneficiaries but they pay them.”
