Wineloya selected as Google Digital Skills partner in Ghana

Wineloya, a digital advertising company based in Ghana, with a focus on providing excellent training in digital, has been selected as one of the training partners for the recently announced Digital Education training program by Google.

Speaking on the announcement, Simon W. Alangde, Managing Partner of Wineloya Digital Advertising said, “we are excited on being selected as one of the partners for this program. With almost 8 million people online in Ghana, we believe that the web has the power to change the fortunes of local businesses. Beyond creating employment and advancing careers, the program will better prepare participants to take full advantage of the web and the numerous added opportunities that the program will bring.”

It will be recalled that Google had earlier announced its commitment to train 1 million young people in Africa on digital skills in the next year, as part of its contribution to growing Africa’s digital economy.

The Digital Skills training is aimed at helping young people in Ghana and across Africa to better understand how to use online tools for building and supporting businesses. It will be available to all youth in Ghana aged between18 – 35.

Alangde further added that the program was designed to be as “light” as possible to provide a unique opportunity for participants to experience a 360 snapshot of the digital ecosystem and how to leverage the resources, just in a day training.

By 2020, there will be half a billion internet users in Africa, presenting an opportunity for African businesses and digital entrepreneurs. However, digital skills are still under-developed, making it harder for African economies to get the most out of the web. Developing digital entrepreneurship and creating new job opportunities for young people is critical to Africa’s transformative growth.
