Endorsement saga: NDC respects Rawlings – Boamah

Minister for Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has stated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) still respects former president JJ Rawlings, although he failed to endorse President John Mahama during the party’s campaign launch.

Dr Boamah stressed the party will in no way disrespect Rawlings for his action.

Speaking on reports making waves that the founder of the party did not publicly endorse Mr. Mahama, Dr. Boamah explained on Asempa FM, that will not occupy their attention since they still respect the role of the founder.

He expressed shock at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for blowing the issue of no endorsement out of proportion, arguing they only want to score “cheap political points”.

Dr. Boamah urged the NPP to rather concentrate on uniting their front ahead of the December elections.

He was optimistic the NDC has performed creditably well in infrastructure, health, education and many other sectors and has also created significant number of jobs, adding Mahama is still working to create more jobs particularly as the World Bank has predicted Ghana’s economy to grow above 8% in 2017.

He said the massive show of support and love for Mahama witnessed at the Cape Coast Stadium Sunday is a clear indication that one-touch victory will be recorded come the December 7 elections.
